Arrival in Lima
Apr 16, 2005
Well, we're here in one piece! We left our home at about 3:45am for the flight, so were a bit tired upon arrival. Quite an eventful journey - when we got to Madrid for our connection I was really worried when they called out my name. I was convinced that they'd lost my suitcase or something, but no - we'd been upgraded to business class. Brilliant. They obviously hadn't seen the state of my hair before deciding to do that.

Shortly after we left Madrid, though, we had to move forward a few seats because somebody was taken ill on the plane. It seemed pretty serious - they set up an IV drip and gave her oxygen, but she was ok in the end and looked like nothing had happened at all by the time she got to Lima!

Budiness class was fantastic. We had our own little screens for films or games and you could also look through a camera mounted on the back of the plane, which was on the big screens during take off and landing. THAT was really cool. We got given goodie bags too, with cologne, shoe horns, combs and a razor. Hmmm. The chairs turned into almost flat beds and could even give you a massage. Great fun to turn that on for the person sitting next to you when they're not looking :-) The only bad thing about the flight was that it was probably the most turbulent one I've ever been on. As we got really close to Lima it kept dropping quite a lot at a time which doesn't make you feel too clever when you've had lots of lovely business class food.

Finally arrived in Lima, the airport was very well organised and friendly. Then we were picked up by our driver and taken to the Sheraton Hotel where the receptionist congratulated us on our wedding and gave us a free bottle of champagne. Cool. Then we went to bed about 9pm.
